COLOUR VISION TEST

Our eye uses cones to percieve colours in real life. There are 3 types of cones namely-RED ,GREEN AND BLUE. The test below is called ISHIHARA TEST and is used to check red green colour defect in the eye.This test is performed at 1 metre.

How is the test performed-

  • Place the phone at 50cm or laptop at a distance of 1 metre.

  • Turn the brightness to full.

  • Close your one eye and read with the other eye

  • Attempt to identify the hidden number or line within 5 seconds

  • Plates 1 – 17 each contain a number

  • Plates 18 – 24 contain one or two wiggly lines.

  • To pass each test you must identify the correct number, or correctly trace the wiggly lines.

  • DISCLAIMER: The Ishisara Test is only one element of a comprehensive eye exam. It is not a replacement for visiting your ECP, as you can easily miss signs that an ECP will find. Only a comprehensive eye exam performed by a licensed ECP can determine if your eyes are healthy and you are seeing as clearly and comfortably as possible..
